A bothersome story

I heard today that a 7th grade student in my high school (It covered 7th to 12th, and still had only 250 students when I went there. Scary) was given a brand new laptop because he got all A's.

Now, I'm cool with incentive gifts, but this is a 13 year-old kid, with a several thousand dollar piece of equipment. The odds are high that it will get damaged (We know how kids can be to their own stuff, and other students pushing him around might be even worse) or it getting stolen are high. This is just something I find rather silly for parents to be doing, and a big risk. I hope it turns out well for the kid.
