Phoenix: Endsong Musings

This might end up being offensive to some people, and contains spoilers for Endsong #5.

So, on the last page, we see three women laying in bed. The Stepford Cuckoos, and one of them wakes up when a teeny bit of glowyness floats up to the window, and then there is fire within/reflected in her eyes, and she asks what took it so long...

Now, this scene seems fairly clear to me (Well, not exactly what it *means*, but at least the above events are pretty clearly drawn on the page), and yet I've seen, almost daily since the issue came out - and a few instances before it did! - of people asking, "Does this mean Emma is the Phoenix now??"

This got me to wondering...why are people assuming that the girl is Emma?

Ok, yes She's blonde. But there's two other blonde girls in the room with her, just like we saw the Stepford Cuckoos at the start of the series, and we saw them together repeatedly throughout the book...

So, we either have reading comprehension issues of something that I feel is pretty bloody clear, or once again we have the pox upon fandom, where people assume that every comic character must be gay, so Emma sleeping with two other women is ok and even expected to the point that they forget the other established characters in the story. And that Emma is getting boned by Cyclops.

Either way, I think I need to start hurting people...
