The Late Show

You know how Eskimos supposedly have lots of words for snow? So that
they can express all the subtly different types of snow that they might
need to talk about? The English language is impoverished. We have only
a handful of words for "late." But when writing about comics, the word
"late" seems so woefully inadequate. What we need is a whole range of
words to express the many magical shades of lateness that the world of
comics has to offer.

Take, for example, SECRET WAR. What we need is a word that means "So
late that it should have been finished by now, and at this rate it won't
