Granted, this remains rumour for now, but I hope I hope I hope...

"Marvel EIC Joe Quesada has indicated that the series wont quite go away but is instead morphing into something new. To replace X-Treme X-Men will be a new Excalibur series which looks to be written by Claremont as well. Rumor-lovers can also be happy as it no longer seems 100% certain despite confirmation by Marvel that Alan Davis next project will be Uncanny X-Men as it was he and Claremont that took Excalibur to comic heights and a repeat performance may be in the works."
