Miracles Watch

Some good news, by way of omision, maybe.

The ongoing war in Iraq caused the networks to pre-empt much of their programming last week, and now it has led ABC to institute several changes to its primetime lineup. Variety reports that the Alphabet Net has asked the producers of its shows to chop about two and a half minutes off new episodes in order to accommodate news bulletins without infringing on plots or losing valuable ad time. ABC has also put several struggling shows on hiatus ("The Family," "Veritas: The Quest" and "Tales From the Front Line") as well as delaying the series finale of "Are You Hot?" and the debut of "Extreme Makeover," which is now set to bow on April 10. The net reportedly felt that frequent pre-emptions and interruptions for news updates were hindering the shows from finding loyal viewers. "The Family," which aired Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET, is set to relaunch this summer, and "Are You Hot?'s" two-hour finale will air April 5, according to Variety.
