For the past few days DALnet has, yet again, been crippled by massive
Denial of Service attacks. We have, at times, been left with no client
servers for you, our users, to connect to. For that we can only apologise,
and assure you that DALnet administration is working with law enforcement
and service providers to try and stem this tide of electronic vandalism.
Please remember, these sorts of attacks cannot happen if each and every
person were to ensure that their computers are secure by disabling any
services (file sharing etc), and by running a good anti-virus program and
firewall. You can all help DALnet, and all non-profit IRC networks at this
time, by making reports to ISPs, police and DALnet of any suspicious
you see - any talk of hacking or attacks. DALnet would also encourage you
all to report any infected computers you may come across on the network
to an IRCop.
You may find out more information about these attacks, and help and advice
for exploits at the following addresses:

On behalf of DALnet administration, let me thank you all for supporting
DALnet and hope that we see brighter times!
