Thursday Night Adventure

Went to Rutland with the parents, so they could run errands, get dinner, and I had plans of hitting Coconuts, a (I believe) loca entertainment store chain, for the Buckaroo Banzai DVD, and check on a few other things.

Anwyho, I go in, and the wracks are in disarray. They've got a bunch of DVDs on the floor, because they've just shoved the videos down one more stack, to give the better format more room. ;)

One of the workers is there, and I ask about the DVD, and she can't find it. One of the others had her little daughter there (I'd say about five or six), and she was so adorable. She was helping the other girl with the shelves.

She looks up at me (Little kids don't care that you're a guy in a trenchcoat with a goatee...), "I'm helping Jennifer!" She was just so cute. Even cuter was that the girl she was helping wasn't named Jennifer!

Anyways, they can't find it, so I trudge out to the car, to wait for my mother to get out of her store visit. That should take a good half an hour.

I'm sitting there, and on a whim, I go BACK to the store. I didn't check out the New Releases rack, and BB was just new enough to still be there.

I'm glad I did.

The little girl (!) found my DVD, and I thanked her (And the employee for looking earlier), and as I'm checking out, another girl who recognised me from an inquiry from a few weeks ago (That trenchcoat stands out in the minds...), asks me, "Have you reserved your Buffy season 1 DVD set yet?"

"Uhhh, no. Should I?" I figured it'll be a decent seller, and they'd have plenty of copies.

"Yeah, if you do, you'll get ten dollars off the retail price."

"OK!!"

I'm so easy to sell on stuff.

So, because of a whim, I got the DVD I wanted, and money off next week's. Cool all around. Faith manages.

And I'm *damn* sure the cute redhead behind the counter was a girl who I went to high school with, but didn't want to seem strange and ask her. That, and when she asked for my name to reserve the Buffy set, she didn't seem to recognise it, or even really acknowledge it. I haven't changed THAT much, I think. Just the beard, really. Of course, it has been a few years.

Next time I see her there, I think I'll make a fool of myself and ask if she is who I think she is.

And note, I'd do this for any old friend of mine.

But the red hair helps. ;)
