MST3K Rewatch Week 77 - Project Moonbase

Commando Cody Part 7 - Still want to sit down and watch all of these back to back to back at some point.

Loved when Joel pulled out the Bif! Pow! silhouettes. =D  Wish we saw more of those.

And some classic bits with all the tool and tire puns in the mechanic's. XD

Part 8 - Two shorts is like double the torture for these guys.

"These moon men have uses for plywood we haven't even dreamed of yet!"

Main movie - Ah, Project Moonbase.  Loosely based on something Heinlein did at some point.  Weirdly enough, I was watching bits and pieces of Starship Troopers the night before.

This is a strangely feminist movie.  And not, at the same time.  It has some good parts with giving women roles of authority, but then has them treated like a typical 1950s woman.  It is totally trying to have its cake and eat it to.  You want to cheer, 'Yeah!  Badass female hotshot pilot, best in the fleet!" but then everyone treats her like she should be in the kitchen.  So conflicting.

And I know you're thinking, "How is that different from now?" in some cases.  Well, trust me, if you've seen it, you know what I mean.

ANYways, this movie is about a mission to a space station that gets sabotaged by a spy, and then they land on the moon.  And uh...that's pretty much it, really.  It never really goes anywhere.  But the guys have some fun with it, and for a first season episode, it's pretty solid.

I do kinda love the cheesy multiple gravity planes shots they did in a few scenes.  For the time the movie was made, that's kinda fun.
