Phoenix

Christmas Craziness

This is gonna be cut, since it won't be even remotely humourous to anyone who isn't a fan of ZD/TechTV. This was posted to the "Long Live TechTV" mailing list I'm on, and had to share it with the few folks I know here who are fans.

Cyclops Got Run Over by His Ex-Wife

Happy Holidays, everyone. =) Another little piece of my history here, the revised edition of a filk written on my last day of college, back in 1995. I disappeared offline for a few years, and have been making up for lost time ever since, and this gets posted SOMEwhere every Christmas since then. So without further ado...

"Cyclops Got Run Over By His Ex-Wife"

(to the tune of: "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" - by Elmo & Patsy)

Idea: Jason "The Phoenix" Bourgeois
Lyrics: Jason Bourgeois, Brucha Meyers, CRETIN, and DkPhoenix
Created in December 1995 in IRC, slightly revised December 1998

Cyclops got run over by his ex-wife,
Patrolling 'round the mansion Christmas Eve,
You may say there's no such thing as cloning,
But as for me and Essex, we believe.

He'd been swigging down his eggnog,
And we begged him not to go,
But Scott (that dork)'s so dedicated,
So he wobbled out the door into the snow.

When we found him Christmas morning,
At the scene of the attack,
There were claw-marks on his forehead,
And Infernal-looking symbols on his back.

Cyclops got run over by his ex-wife,
Patrolling 'round the mansion Christmas Eve,
You can say there's no such thing as cloning,
But as for me and Essex, we believe.

Well, we're all so proud of Cable,
He's been taking this so well,
Not a tear to rust his metal,
He just sits there playing cards with Sis Rachel.

It's not Christmas without Cyclops,
All the X-Men dressed in black,
And we just can't help but wonder,
Should we go to Sinister and clone him back?
(CLONE HIM BACK!!)

Cyclops got run over by his ex-wife,
Patrolling 'round the mansion Christmas Eve,
You may say there's no such thing as cloning,
But as for me and Essex, we believe.

Now that Scott is six feet under,
Jean's conscience is clear and clean,
My! Her luck is so uncanny,
At last she can go out with Wolverine.

I've warned all my friends and mutants,
Maddie could be after you,
They should have never given powers
To a gal who had Phoenix to live up to.

Cyclops got run over by his ex-wife,
Patrolling 'round the mansion Christmas Eve,
You can say there's no such thing as cloning,
But as for me and Essex, we believe.

Sing it, Nathans!!

Cyclops got run over by his ex-wife,
Patrolling 'round the mansion Christmas Eve,
You may say there's no such thing as cloning,
But as for me and Essex, we believe!

Holiday Spirit

So, as always, I'm reluctantly listening to the radio. I try and avoid it as much as possible, but my parents listen to it in the morning, so my efforts only go so well.

Anyways, one of the local charities was collecting toys for kids in the area, as they tend to do this time of year, and last night, someone broke in and stole all the toys, and little to nothing else.

They were talking about it on the radio, and with one of the charity folks, rightfully wondering what this person could have had in mind, etc etc. You know the drill, I'm sure, and trying to get folks to pitch in last minute.

Someone else just called in from work, and said that if someone could come pick it up, since she can't readily leave work and is quite a ways away, she would donate a five *hundred* dollar cheque.

How awesome is that?

Edited awesomeness: Someone else just called in from Albany, New York. He is going to drive over from there, about a two hour drive, and donate *another* five hundred.

Have I Mentioned Lately...

That I hate shopping with my mom?

The other day, "Would you like to go to Rutland with me Thursday morning?"

Now, remembering our last trip to the big city, I paused, and remained quiet. "Oh, don't worry. I just need you to pick out a calendar for Christmas, and I need to make one quick little stop for one thing."

While I shivered at that last phrase, I figured fine.

*ahem*

Sears.
JC Penny.
Kay-Bee.
A jewelers.
A few dollar stores. (One of which was a 20 minute 'quick stop')
A gas station to pick up something else.
The DVD/CD store I frequent. Which I was going to stop at anyways, but stopped at the one in the mall where most of these were, to try and knock out a stop. Oops.

Oh, and my calendar.

Just one little stop!
