I ought to make a MST3K userpic someday if I'm gonna keep this up.
This movie is so clearly ripping off Charlie's Angels, it's not even funny. No, really. It's not! Except they figured if three hot women were good, seven would be even better!! And I love that it took the guys almost 3/4ths of the way through until they 'notice' this fact.
I love the host segment poking fun at Renegade, turning Mike and the bots into the cast. That show deserves its own MSTing, frankly. And seeing Mike as the star of that...Bwahahaha.
The movie got way off on the wrong foot by using such hilarious cartoony sound effects when it started. But even more bizarre is that they went away. If the movie had kept using the bonks and such, it would at least be an...interesting stylistic choice, but having it in the first few minutes then mostly disappear is just weird. Heck, if Hercules and Xena could get away with it...
I find it really weird that the movie had the women in the starring roles, the movie is CLEARLY about them...but the lead credits, the top billing, goes to all the male actors with minor roles. Niiice. Speaking of which, poor Jim Backus, Alan Hale, Jack Palance, and Peter Lawford. This was not the finest moment for ANY of them. Surprising to have such a name-worthy cast that goes nowhere. And oh dear, Jim Backus as a white supremacist. That's worth the price of admission, at least.
Not really much to say about this one, otherwise. Another non-sciencey/horrorible movie, another odd action movie, and pretty typical of the type that make me meh. It did have some good moments though, and they riffed it well. But overall, after a string of great episodes, this was not so much. It was weird though...
