I'll admit it, that may be one of my favourite MST3K riffs. I'm not ashamed of that.
This...this is one heck of a movie. It is classic MST3K. This has a lot of great riffs, and probably the most outright laughter by me. Especially after they stumble into the Kurosawa movie, I was laughing at almost every line. It was infectious there for a few minutes.
For a movie called Cave Dwellers, it sure has a lot of backstory and reused footage, doesn't it? Well, that's because the movie is actually a sequel. Not that you would know from the American title, huh? Crow sums it up well when he says Tolkein couldn't follow this. Not only does it reuse footage from the first Ator movie, but the credits run over footage from a completely unrelated movie! Joel and the bots make fun of that, but it's still worth mentioning and smacking your forehead over.
If you want to read more about the weirdness of this film, hit up Wikipedia: Ator 2
What is up with the pauses?? I half wonder if the actors in the movie were waiting for laugh lines, or setting up MST3K! If the show didn't come into existence for years after Ator 2.
The host segments were really good too. I loved them aping the weird style of the film's credits, and the foley session was fun. Not only is the show funny, it's edumacational!
If I was introducing someone to this show, this would be a good episode for it. So silly, good laughs, and just a WTF of a movie.
