They're talking Olympics, as many folks seem to, and the preperations for the opening ceremonies, "They knew the rest of humanity would be watching this event..."

That's right, I will not be watching the opening ceremonies. Or any events. I'm surprised I'm even mentioning them.
I always hated sweeping generalisations like that, since more often than not, I seem to be the exception.
