I have a few things that annoy the heck out of me.

You may have noticed. ;)

One that really, really gets my goat is leaving out "Previously on..." segments on tv series DVD sets. I get the thinking, bt it always felt flawed. Sure, some people will sit down and watch your 22 episodes in a few days, but not everyone, or even most, IMO will do so.

And even then, they often show things from previous seasons, which wouldn't have been watched under regular circumstances as much as a year before the set you might be watching. On top of that, even for someone who's watching in a run of episodes, can appreciate a quick reminder of events gone by.

The biggest thing though, is that oftentimes the episodes just feel WRONG without them. They start awkwardly, like something is missing. Well gee, something IS.

Fortunately, most DVDs don't go this route. Sets that got it right: Lost and Alias spring immediately to mind. Thank the GODS on that count. Especially with rewatching Lost with my mother. That's a post in and of itself, let me tell you...

Sets that really dropped the ball on it: Veronica Mars, first in my head. Quickly followed by Buffy and Angel, but definitely Veronica. Even *I* don't remember all the details while watching Veronica in chunks, and often a small detail in the first few episodes can come back to haunt people 15 episodes later. Watching VM an episode a week with my parents has been interesting, and I can tell they forget even more than most. But if we still had those previously on bits, there could at least be a moment of "Oh yeah, THAT guy!"

Is it really saving that much to trim out 30 seconds or so at the start of each episode? Isn't it actually more trouble to slice them out rather than just convert the episodes to DVD in toto? Meh.

Why am I ranting about this? Because I can. Because I've been wanting to for awhile. Because the Blade series DVDs I just got in the mail also left those off. And because any excuse to post more than a link, or a list of comics, is good by me.

Yes, I know I'm the only person on the planet that liked the Blade tv series, so keep your comments to yourselves! ;)
