Super Supernatural

Loooved tonight's episode.

First off, huge nostalgia for X-Files' "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'", a classic of that series. And no surprise, since tonight's Supernatural was written by John Shiban, who did a bunch of X-Files, and helped create the Lone Gunmen series. Not the same writer as Chung's, but he always had that same sensibility to the writing. A little offbeat, funny... My other guess for who wrote it before I hunted it down was Ben "The Tick" Edlund, but nah, not this week.

Second, it brings in Tricksters into the mythologies. I love Tricksters. Loki, Puck... See also: Gargoyles. I've always felt a certain empathy with such characters, because I am a bit of one myself, and love just causing chaos for chaos's sake. So to see them brought into Supernatural brings me no end of glee.

Hmm. Need a trickster icon. Maybe Marvel Loki...
