Where There is Smoke...

Well, it looks like my mom has quit quitting smoking.

I'd suspected for awhile now, but tonight I pretty much proved it.

She postponed her cigarette intake at the start of the year, and I'd caught her briefly at my brother's birthday party, but it was a hectic situation, and there was major car troubles with getting there, so I let that one slide, since it was a lone abberation amidst the rest of it.

For the past week or two, I'd thought I'd been smelling the remains, especially in the trash, but just thought I was being nutty, because I hadn't seen it anywhere else. I'd also noticed an ash tray that had been stored away awhile ago back in their bedroom. Suspicious, but not overly. She was careful.

But tonight, we started watching Heroes, the phone rang, she answered and ducked away to talk. I poked my head out, mostly to get a bottle of Fire, and got a big whiff of smoke, and saw the cigarette in hand. "I'm just out here getting some fresh air, and since you were watching tv, didn't want to disturb you!"

*sigh*

Nothing like having a lengthy hospital stay to encourage you to light up!
